East Green achieves Australian excellence rating

East Green, Greenwood has earned a 5 Star Green Star Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.

Greenwood – Perth – 31 August 2017 – Creating innovative, affordable and contemporary housing in the middle-ring metropolitan suburb of Greenwood has earned Frasers Property Australia a 5 Star Green Star Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.

The East Green residential development has become the first community in Australia to receive the award under the version 1.1 rating tool for demonstrating excellence in innovative design and environmental stewardship.

Specifically, East Green was recognised for a commitment to community engagement throughout the entire design process. This includes consultation with the wider community to ensure the development preserves Greenwood’s history and natural amenity.

The development’s new display home, showcasing a range of innovative sustainable design features, will be officially opened by WA Housing Minister Peter Tinley MLA, this week.

East Green is being delivered by Frasers Property, one of Australia’s leading diversified property groups, and land owner the WA Government Department of Communities.

The mixed residential development will be delivered on the site of the old East Greenwood Primary School as part of the State Government’s commitment to creating more affording metropolitan housing options.

Frasers Property General Manager Residential WA, Stuart Gardiner, said East Green received a 5 Star Green Star Communities rating for offering quality, diverse and affordable housing options in a community that actively promotes a connection with nature.

In part, the accolade was also earned for the project’s commitment to retain more than 100 fully-grown native trees, with a further 100 to be planted.

“Frasers Property believes strongly in the benefits of sustainable communities, and East Green will stay true to its name by delivering a green and genuinely sustainable community in the heart of Greenwood,” Mr Gardiner said.

“Livability was a significant focus in the design process, which is why the entire community will be interconnected via footpaths to improve access and connectivity with the wider community.

“Another key feature differentiating East Green from other developments is that over 25 per cent of the entire site has been dedicated to public open space.

Mr Gardiner said Frasers Property was justifiably proud that East Green had received a 5 Star Green Star Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.

“East Green is a development that places value on environmental stewardship and the input of the local community, resulting in a modern, affordable residential home design that blends
with Greenwood’s history and preserves ‘green living’,” he said.

“East Green will have more than double the required planning area dedicated to public open space and will also provide residents with a range of amenities within 2km, including shopping centers, sporting precincts, schools and medical facilities. The development is also close to public transport and 18km from the Perth CBD.East Green will include a variety of modern turnkey housing options, with 46 single storey and 54 double storey homes in a range of designs. There will also be 32 one and two bed apartments across two buildings as well as six unique one-bedroom walk-up apartments."

Each house will be built with low energy, renewable materials and come with water-wise gardens and fittings and high quality timber-framed architectural design and finish, streamlining construction time and allowing for easier modification.

The East Green display home located at 63 Mulligan Drive will be open to the public from 1pm-4pm on its grand launch weekend on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September 2017.
