Frasers Property Australia’s Discovery Point community has been recognised on the industry’s night of nights, taking out the Masterplanned Development category at the 2016 Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) National Awards for Excellence.
The award recognises Frasers Property’s expertise in masterplanned development during the planning and delivery of Discovery Point, a vibrant new community in the heart of Sydney’s south. Frasers Property Australia was formerly known as Australand.
Discovery Point is a prime example of a masterplanned community developed on a remediated infill site just kilometres from the city, providing high quality residences and shared community amenities such as pools, gyms, playgrounds, extensive parklands and retail spaces. The community is positioned directly above Wolli Creek train station, ensuring great connectivity for residents and opportunities for local businesses.
Nigel Edgar, General Manager, Residential, NSW, Frasers Property Australia said the award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team responsible for the creation of Discovery Point.
“Through careful masterplanning and a collaborative approach we‘ve been able to deliver a true sense of community at Discovery Point. The many key benefits of living in this new residential community are clear, and the local businesses are already enjoying well-earned success,” Mr Edgar said.
Mr Edgar said the vision for Discovery Point was to create a vibrant residential neighbourhood and a contemporary lifestyle destination appropriately designed to appeal to residents and visitors at all stages of their lives.
Frasers Property has engaged a selection of top tier architectural practices at Discovery Point including Bates Smart, Cox Richardson, PTW and Group GSA to provide differentiation across each building.
The UDIA National Awards for Excellence are designed to highlight innovation, sustainability, industry leadership and recognise excellence in urban development across Australia.
