Landscaping tips part 4: Maintenance.

In Berwick Waters the cooler, wetter months from May until October offer the best opportunity to establish plants with the lowest maintenance. However, Summer and Spring can offer rapid growth if regular watering is undertaken.

On heavy clay souls, adding gypsum will help break up soil and benefit plant growth. The ongoing addition of garden compost will continue to improve site soil and nutrient supply.

Although native species require less maintenance than exotic species, they still benefit from frequent watering over the first summer to ensure establishment, and pruning promotes healthy growth and a compact shape.
