New Discovery Centre unveiled in future five-minute community

MELBOURNE, 2 JULY 2018 – The recent release of the first land lots at one of Melbourne’s most exciting new communities, Mambourin, has proved very popular with the market.

Frasers Property Australia threw out the welcome mat to the public at the Mambourin Discovery Day on Saturday 16 June, when 84 land lots were secured by keen purchasers. The launch also saw a unique new Discovery Centre unveiled on site, which will serve as the community’s sales and education centre.

The first land lots, near the wetlands and predominantly park facing, proved popular in the new five-minute community in Melbourne’s west, where prices started at $260,000.

The Discovery Day saw over 100 home hunters explore the inspiring design ideas at a Home Expo, and learn about what life could be like at the future community.

With music provided by the Nova Street team, prospective buyers learned about healthy lifestyles from a local Live Life Get Active trainer, before they grabbed a drink from a bike-powered smoothie machine and tasted from the variety of food stalls.

There were activities for the kids too, with a petting zoo, story time, mask-making workshops and an appearance by Barnacle Bill from The Octonauts.

Mambourin’s Discovery Centre is now open from 11 am to 5 pm seven days per week.

The Discovery Centre, landscaped with integrated decking and elevated walkways to capture views of the You Yangs, showcases the future of life at Mambourin with visual displays of the new connected neighbourhood and the range of living options available.

The Centre’s education-based playground features play spaces drawing inspiration from Mambourin’s future district park and wetlands, including slides, lily pads, balance beams, stone boulders and a climbing net.

Sarah Bloom, General Manager – Residential Victoria, Frasers Property Australia says the success of the weekend launch, along with the newly unveiled Mambourin Discovery Centre, offers an ideal first glimpse of the new look community 40km west of Melbourne.

“Everyone wants to live somewhere that is connected and convenient, and our focus on building a real community from the ground up is very appealing to our customers,” Ms Bloom says.

“The new Discovery Centre showcases Mambourin’s future as a new benchmark for mixed-use masterplanned communities tailored to the needs of residents.”

Frasers Property invested in the centre to demonstrate what people can expect from their new community. Accessible off Black Forest Road, it sets the scene for the innovative development poised to re-shape Melbourne’s west.

Mambourin: a 5 minute community

Bordered by Werribee and Wyndham Vale, the new Mambourin community will set a new precedent for masterplanned communities, with city-style convenience at its heart.

With stage 1 plans already approved for Mambourin, the new community will be home to more than 3,500 people living in a wide variety of housing designs. A total of 115ha of vacant land will be transformed into a thriving mixed-use community set around a vibrant new town centre.

With plans for a new train station, major town centre and other community amenities, including an exclusive resident’s leisure centre, Mambourin will be a five-minute community where residents can easily walk, cycle or bus to shops, services and transport – everything they need for modern living.

Pending approval, proposed plans for the major town centre include 25,000sqm in retail floor space with a full-line supermarket, 30-40 specialty stores and an entertainment precinct with cinema.

Wyndham Vale station is located just two kilometres from Mambourin and Transport for Victoria has announced plans for a new station next to the new community on the existing regional rail link between Werribee and Wyndham Vale. A rural locality with a population of just four, according to the 2016 Census, the area was named after a tribesman in the Barrabool tribe.
