Giving Tree overflowing with generous gifts for charities.A Christmas Giving Tree organised by Frasers Property Australia as part of Discovery Point’s Celebrate Christmas event, held on Saturday December 16, showed how much the Christmas spirit can bring out the best in everyone - and change lives in the process.
The festivities took place throughout the Discovery Point precinct, with the St Magdalen’s Chapel Courtyard, the Tempe House Courtyard and the Village Square all activated with Christmas entertainment and activities. Over 1,000 members of the Discovery Point community gathered to celebrate Christmas.
Discovery Point residents and people from surrounding areas gave generously by donating gifts underneath the Giving Tree for the St Vincent de Paul Society’s St George Sutherland Support Services, and Southern Cross Vet’s Project Hope.
There was delicious food and entertainment, with markets and stalls busy all day offering a diverse selection of Christmas favourites. Couples sipped mulled wine, children enjoyed popcorn and fairy floss, while mums and dads supped on eggnog.
Playful activities ran throughout the day inside Santa’s Village, the church courtyards and the fun Kids Zone. Santa brought a large stocking full of presents and posed for photos.
Couples learned to play the ukulele, children jumped on the jumping castle and painted watercolour Christmas cards with flair, while the grown-ups created Christmas wreaths with red and gold tinsel, rose petals and Christmas bush.
Families sang along to Christmas carols, danced to music from local bands the Wolli Creakers and the Bluegrass Ukuleles, and enjoyed the soft sounds of choral music from the Bridge on River Choir singers.
Pooches faced off for the Festive Dog Competition and the winner of the Discovery Point Balcony Decoration competition were announced on the day with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters receiving at pre-paid credit card just in time for Christmas.
Dino Carulli, Sales & Marketing Director, Frasers Property Australia says residents are excited about the prospect of the Celebrate Christmas event being part of the festivities every year.
“The community gathers at special times to celebrate important cultural events and our Christmas party at Discovery Point has been a great way for people to connect with each other, bringing the community together,” Mr Carulli says.
“We love putting on events that create positive experiences and fond memories. It’s a special time of year where friendships are made that last a lifetime,” he says.
