Shopping at Port Coogee gets closer

Green light given for new shopping centre at Port Coogee Specialty shop tenants are now being sought for Australand's new shopping centre at Port Coogee after the developer secured development approval last week to the 4,431m2 complex at its award-winning coastal estate.

Australand WA General Manager Tony Perrin said with Woolworths already on board as the centre's anchor tenant and planning approvals now in place the leasing campaign was now underway to secure the speciality shops.

"We are pleased to have secured the new design approvals that allow us to progress to the specialty shop leasing phase, a key step toward the sale of the Shopping centre which then allows this final element of amenity to be delivered to the community." Mr Perrin said.

"Once specialty leasing is suitably progressed we will embark on a campaign to sell the shopping centre to an suitable investor which paves the way for construction to begin” Mr Perrin said.

The sale of 150 apartments in the Marina Village has already occurred and completion by the end of the year of the first buildings by TRG & Match ensure the existing catchment is maturing confidently and will help the shopping centre trade strongly when it is completed.

The shopping centre site is located in the heart of the Marina Village with frontage to Orsino Boulevard and Calypso Drive. The centre will provide local customers with a full range Woolworths supermarket and 14 specialty shops.

Appointed shopping centre leasing agent Jim Tsagalis the Managing Director of Lease Equity said he expected strong interest in the shopping centre from retailers.

"With a full range Woolworths anchoring this development it provides a compelling opportunity for quality supporting tenants to establish themselves in a sophisticated, exclusive centre with an upmarket customer profile which will only mature and solidify in years to come with growth in residents and the surrounding catchment.

"We are initially focusing the leasing campaign on the pharmacy after which a variety of other speciality outlets will be invited to complement the supermarket and provide a diverse range of offerings to the local community."

Woolworths Regional Property Manager, Stephen Vernall said Woolworths was looking forward to joining the local community and providing customers with great value and convenience when the store was complete.

“The Woolworth store in Port Coogee will provide local customers with great fresh Australian produce and a wide range of grocery items at everyday low prices.” Mr Vernall said.
