Sculpture Masterclass

23 November 2020

Hamilton Reach was a proud sponsor of Northshore Sculpture by the River, an exhibition of indoor and outdoor sculptures by Sculptors Queensland, celebrating the history of the Brisbane River between October, 3 and December, 6.  During that time, residents of Hamilton Reach were invited to attend exclusive events.

Residents Launch Event
On the eve of the public launch, Sculptors Queensland invited Hamilton Reach residents to an exclusive viewing of 50 indoors sculptures, exhibited at The Shed for two weekends only. Attendees had the privilege to approach some of the artists and discover the unique story behind each sculpture as well as the opportunity to purchase it first. Sculptor Mela Cook kindly donated a bronze worth $1,800 towards a lucky door prize raffle, raising $740 in support for Sculptors Queensland non-for-profit Association.

Private residents Guided Tour

Hamilton Reach residents took part in a guided tour along the Riverwalk with two artists from Sculptors Queensland and ended the tour at Hamilton Reach Sales & Display Centre to view a small selection of sculptures from the indoor exhibition.

Residents Workshop – An introduction to Sculpture Making
On Saturday 17 November, experienced sculptors Claudje Lecompte and Susan Margaret guided a small group of residents through a process of construction. Using white earthenware paper clay, participants created a figurative form inspired by the life of the river and transform it into an abstract sculpture.
