It's a dog's life at Frasers Landing!

21 March 2023

There are so many reasons why people love living at Frasers Landing … the feeling of living amongst nature, the bushland and wetlands, the river, the trees, the birds, the proximity to Mandurah, the beach and a host of stunning WA attractions – and of course, the friendly, welcoming community.

But what does your dog think about it? Your furry friend is part of the family too, so it’s important that they are happy and healthy. We’ve put together some ways you can help you dog feel loved and at home at Frasers Landing!

WALKIES …

Dogs (and us dog owners!) are happier and healthier with regular outdoor exercise. And what dog doesn’t love a walk along the beach! According to the City of Mandurah, regular exercise helps to improve the health and socialisation of your dog, and for the owner, a sense of community as well as important outdoor exercise. So the City has designated a large amount of space in and around Mandurah’s beaches, estuary and parks as dog-friendly, on and off lead. Just please remember to be a responsible dog owner and pick up after your pet! There are free poo bags at many locations throughout the area, so stock up when you see the next station.

ON THE BEACHES ….

We are fortunate to have so many beautiful beaches in Mandurah, promising long coastal walks all year round. There are over seventeen designated kilometres of coastline in Mandurah for dogs to exercise off-lead, and even more locations that allow for dogs to explore on lead, from Avoca Place in Madora Bay to the western end of Falcon Bay.

There are also dozens of estuary reserves that allow your dog to run free off-lead, from Madora Bay to Dudley Park and Dawesville.

… AND THE PARKS

One of Mandurah’s most popular locations for a good game of fetch is the Leslie Street dog park. This is Mandurah’s first enclosed dog park, offering a space for dogs small and large to run free, with green grass, trees and a communal space that welcomes all dogs. It’s a great spot for you and your pooch to meet like-minded dog lovers in the area.

After all that exercise, you’ll need sustenance! Many cafes and restaurants around Mandurah welcome dogs, offering pet-friendly outdoor dining and the all-important water bowl. Don’t forget to pop your leftovers in a doggy bag!

DOG’S DAY OUT

Fancy an outing with your best friend? If you’re taking a trip with a Chihuahua, Maltese, Miniature Schnauzer or any small dog that doesn’t shed, why not hire a boat? With Mandurah Boat Hire you can sail the Mandurah waterways with your little friend on your lap. Or enjoy the crisp sea breeze alongside your pooch on one of the Mandurah Boat Charters … as with the Mandurah Boat Hire, you’ll just have to make sure your pet is small, doesn’t shed and is under control (yeah, right!).

BACK TO SCHOOL

If you have a puppy that needs training – or an old dog that needs to learn new tricks – check out ‘Dog Father’ at Coastal Dog Training for a full range of training and obedience classes in the Mandurah area, from puppy pre-school to doggy boot camp. www.coastaldogtraining.com.au

Lisa’s Complete Canine Care also offers training, from one-on-one to group classes.

With all that, what dog wouldn’t feel welcome and loved?
