Nature’s changing colours, cooler weather and glorious fresh produce – there’s so much to love about autumn. Especially if you’re a foodie – the Mandurah/Peel region is flavour-packed at this time of year, rich in fresh, local produce from the land and ocean. Renowned for its blue swimmer crabs and other excellent seafood, the region is also full of quality and award-winning pubs, restaurants, cafes, bakeries, breweries and wineries.

So whet your appetite and head out for some of the best food and beverage spots on the local tasting trail this autumn, from breweries and wineries to fresh produce markets and more.

Here are some suggestions, just to whet your appetite - enjoy!

Wild Seafood Experience

A luxurious and indulgent experience on a 60-foot boat. Enjoy the thrill of catching your own Western Rock Lobster, then dine on a deluxe 8-course seafood lunch menu showcasing local ingredients and your own freshly caught lobster, cooked on board by a private chef. Lunch includes fine West Australian wines and premium beverages, all while cruising past dolphins, pelicans and other local aquatic birdlife.

Bush Tucker

The Goolamwiin tour takes you into the bush for bush tucker and medicine plants. The local Nyungar people will share stories of who they are, where they come from, and about growing up on an Aboriginal reserve. The three-hour walking tour includes a Nyungar welcome, followed by the opportunity to identify and taste bushfoods, and yarning around a campfire with morning or afternoon tea.

Boundary Island Brewery

Great beer, delicious food and a great atmosphere at any time of year. Located in a building in one of Mandurah’s best waterways overlooking Boundary Island, Boundary Island Brewery is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner - using all local ingredients where possible – and offers a great range of wine and cocktails, plus of course their range of delicious craft beers. You can get to the brewery by boat, car, bus, foot or bike.

Peel Produce Market

A community hub where local farmers, artisans, and small businesses come together to showcase the best of what our region has to offer. Join the locals every Saturday morning when nearby farms and growers share their seasonal fruits and veggies, along with artisanal products, including homemade jams and jellies, freshly baked bread, and handcrafted cheeses. Remember to bring along your reusable bags! On the Dawesville foreshore, 8am til 12noon on Saturdays.

Winery Tour

Visit three local wineries in the Mandurah and Peel region – Drakesbook, Peel Estate and Vineyard 28 - and enjoy a relaxing lunch at either Redgum Wine Estate or the Cut Tavern, overlooking the estuary. Learn about the land and get to understand the local area. An all-inclusive day out featuring scenery, food and wine - and someone else gets to do the driving!
