Greenleaf Park: Opening Soon at Brookhaven
We’re excited to share a progress update on Brookhaven’s new recreation corridor - named Greenleaf Park - which is set to open this June. With its focus on connection, nature, and inclusive play, Greenleaf Park promises to become a much-loved destination for residents of all ages (and their four-legged friends too).
Why “Greenleaf”?
The name reflects the park’s leafy setting and emphasis on native planting, ecological restoration, and green open space. It’s more than just a park - it’s a place to walk, explore, play, and unwind in nature.
A Look at What’s Inside
Revegetation & Trails
The transformation of Greenleaf Park has placed a strong focus on restoring the natural character of the area.
- Species were carefully selected based on the regional ecosystem zone, with the aim of encouraging native biodiversity and restoring a healthy, functional landscape.
- Thousands of native plants have been introduced, designed to support local wildlife and reduce erosion.
- A series of ponds provide scenic stopping points and encourage birds and aquatic life to flourish.
- The multi-use trails are set out to guide residents on a journey through the landscape, offering a chance to appreciate the park’s waterways and natural beauty at every turn.
Barkhaven Dog Park
Brookhaven’s first dedicated dog park will offer a secure and enriching space for dogs to run, explore, and rest. Shelters, seating, and natural sandstone boulders give pet owners a comfortable spot to relax and watch their pups at play.
Toddler Playground
At the heart of the play area is the thoughtfully selected Giddy Green, a compact and colourful play structure designed specifically for babies and toddlers.
“We wanted to create a space that truly caters to our youngest residents and reflects the feedback we’ve received from the community,” says the design team . “While Giddy Green is modest in scale, it offers a well-rounded diversity of play opportunities - supporting everything from balance and coordination to sensory engagement.”
The play area also features a swing set, slide, and music panel, making it a fun, safe, and engaging space for families with little ones.Bridge & Bio Basin
A charming new bridge improves access across the corridor and links various areas of the park. A newly established bio basin helps with sustainable water management and further supports native vegetation and wildlife habitats.
What’s Next?
The major works are now complete and the turf has been laid. We now need a couple of weeks for the grass to establish before we can welcome the community to explore this area. We will be celebrating Greenleaf Park opening launch together early August.
