Read the April 2014 construction update.
The stage 1 construction works began in January 2013 and just over a year later, on Saturday 15 March, the stage 1 construction works were formally completed.
Over the past few weeks Coastwide Civil, the successful tenderer for the stage 2 construction work has been busy planning the various works involved in this next stage, including the development of a Site Specific Environmental Management which has now been approved.
Early construction works for stage 2 commenced at the beginning of April with the placement of surcharge mounding to the eastern boat harbour edge and the placement of rocks in a bridging layer on the soft soils. Prioritising this early construction work will enable the soft soils in the surcharge mound to consolidate and improve in soil quality prior to the construction of the eastern boat harbour edge walls.
