Read the January 2014 construction update.
Since construction commenced in January 2013 The Waterfront site has changed significantly and now one year on stage 1 construction is almost complete.
After months of hard work The Western Boat Harbour Basin is now fully excavated and The Southern Temporary Surcharge Mound is approximately 75% complete. The mound continues to be progressively vegetated as this vegetation which covers the mound acts as an environmental control measure to prevent erosion and reduce windblown dust.
The sand which was excavated from the Beach Zone and temporarily stockpiled to enable the construction of the Breakwater and Groyne has now been reinstated back on the beach between the Breakwater and Groyne. This sand will be dredged in the third stage of construction to create the entry channel.
