Fun activities in store for Seniors Week at The Waterfront, Shell Coveseniors week
A get-together for everyone in the community

Shellharbour locals can look forward to a fun-filled week in March when Shellharbour City Council and Frasers Property Australia, joint developers of the award-winning The Waterfront, Shell Cove community, host a range of activities to celebrate Seniors Week, starting with Lunch by the Sea on March 3 from 10.30am to 1pm.

In collaboration with aged care and retirement living provider Warrigal Shell Cove, the Lunch by the Sea will be free for the over 60’s and just a gold coin donation for others. It will feature live music, free gardening workshops, ceramics workshop, lawn games and other inclusive projects for everyone in the community to join in.

Local childcare operator Marina Cottage Early Learning Centre will also participate on the day, celebrating all ages and encouraging intergenerational connections.

It will be a great opportunity for shift workers, the retired, part time workers, students and stay at home parents to get together on a weekday and get to know each other while enjoying a BBQ cooked and served by the volunteers of Shell Cove Social Group.

Then on March 4, the Pines Surf Academy will offer an adult surfing lesson for those who want to challenge themselves and start the new decade with a new skill.

The group lesson will be held at Farm Beach in Killalea State Park from 10am. Entry is $20 but free for anyone over 60. To take part, people can book directly through Pines Surf Academy.

“Seniors Week is an opportunity for people of all ages to honour our older residents for the role they play in the community. We think it’s important to show our respect for the seniors who have helped create our local identity and these activities are a tangible way we can encourage closer ties among everyone in the community,” says Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba.
