Shell Cove is surrounded by incredible landmarks and destinations that make for a great location to escape lockdown, and we've got a few great ways to keep active at home, outdoors and for all ages and abilities.
Killalea State Park
There's not a surfer in Australia who doesn't know about this not-so-secret spot, but for those who prefer their walking shoes over a wetsuit, the park offers plenty of great COVID safe activities too.
Within Killalea, there is a 5km track that starts outside the kiosk and takes you through the best parts of the Park. It's beautiful, but if you're prepared to drive yourself, it can be a pretty brutal workout too! For the entire 5km loop, check out the Shellharbour parkrun page for more information.
Our furry friends have the luxury of Shellharbour's only off-leash dog beach, situated on Bass Point Tourist Road. It's 1.5 kilometres of pure puppy bliss. Not only is the view spectacular, but the walk is friendly for anybody who wants to start moving, and if you're lucky, you might catch a pod of Dolphins or a Whale while on your walk. Respect the beauty of this place, be sure you clean up after your pooch.
Bass Point is paradise, and whether you choose to walk, run or ride, it's a great place to keep active. And while the waters are calm, the beautiful Bush Rangers Bay is a great place to throw on a wetsuit and dive right into the deep blue. Switch off and submerge yourself; it doesn't get much better than that.
Lace-up and move. There's no excuse to avoid exercise in Shell Cove, with plenty of paths and boardwalks through our streets and wetlands to walk on and explore. Or, get out into our parks for a quick HIIT workout that will have you ready to conquer the day.
To help get you moving, we spoke to Shell Cove local Erin from ECPT, who put together the below workout for you, and all you need is you and your phone or watch to keep track of the time.
The Shell Cove Crusher. Great for adults of all abilities, and you can modify it to have some fun with the kids. If you give it a go, make sure you share your posts on our Facebook page!
