Aqua residents can't get enough of the harbour views

Three years ago, Jamie Porcella and her partner Zoran Subasic popped champagne when they found out they’d been successful in the ballot to purchase the new home of their choice, a three-bedroom corner apartment off-the-plan in the Aqua building at The Waterfront, Shell Cove. Plus, it was Jamie’s birthday.

Now, the couple has another reason to crack open a bottle of bubbly, except this time it’s on the balcony of their new apartment overlooking the new harbour, offering stunning panoramic views.

“The apartment is absolutely beautiful and has surpassed our expectations. I'm in love with our balcony view. It looks like something from a postcard or something you’d put on travel websites to advertise the place. It's just amazing and I think we have the best spot,” says Jamie.

“I've met a few neighbours and everyone seems lovely and equally excited about their new homes, from the great views to the convenience and lifestyle. There is a strong sense of community already and it’s a really friendly neighbourhood, which will only grow as more residents move in.

Coming from Warilla just 4km from The Waterfront and running a wholesale business that serves the South Coast, Jamie and Zoran are among the growing number of Shell Cove residents who were attracted to the convenient lifestyle at the new masterplanned community by Shellharbour City Council, with Frasers Property Australia.

On the ground level of the Aqua building is The Waterfront Dining Precinct, where gourmet fish and chip takeaway Salty Squid has opened its doors. Jamie and Zoran were among the first customers.

“We ordered dinner from Salty Squid the first day they opened. The people that are running the restaurant are lovely and the food was brilliant. It was so convenient to just wander downstairs, grab a lovely meal and dine on the balcony overlooking the marina. It’s amazing,” she says.

“It’s not just the restaurants. We also enjoy having the town centre so close by. It's great to have a full-line Woolworths just downstairs where we can grab all the groceries we need. If I'm halfway through cooking and I’m out of something, I can just pop down and grab whatever I need and get back home in five minutes.

“We’ve also applied to put a boat in the marina. If we could get a berth it would truly be the ultimate package.”

The Waterfront, Shell Cove is a masterplanned community surrounded by beaches, parks and wetlands but close to schools, transport and major centres.

A focal point will be the 270-berth boat harbour and Shellharbour Marina next to the lively town centre, featuring a retail precinct anchored by a Woolworths supermarket and specialty shops, restaurants on the marina’s edge, waterfront tavern, hotel, children’s beach, water play areas, library and community centre.
