Frasers Property Australia partners with Relationships Australia

Next evolution of its commitment to social connection in its communities

01 March 2024

In 2024, the year marking its 100th anniversary in Australia, Frasers Property Australia has become an official partner of Relationships Australia’s community connection campaign, Neighbours Every Day, the next evolution of its commitment to promoting social connections in its communities.

Relationships Australia is a leading provider of relationship and community support and family safety services, working in a variety of ways to advocate and promote the importance of respectful relationships for positive mental health outcomes.

For over 20 years, Relationships Australia has coordinated a social campaign, ‘Neighbours Every Day’, and an annual day of action, ‘Neighbour Day’, to promote the benefits of social connection and build capacity for people to make and maintain respectful relationships.

This year it falls on Easter Sunday 31 March. By partnering with Neighbours Every Day, Frasers Property is now acknowledged by Relationships Australia as a ‘Very Neighbourly Organisation’, a commitment which encourages strong and clearly articulated values, as well as a range of activities in support of Neighbour Day.

Across its national community portfolio, Frasers Property will be hosting a series of events. Highlights include:

  • At Midtown MacPark in Sydney, there’ll be a neighbourhood walk and pet playdate;
  • A ‘Very Neighbourly Fair’ will be held at Wallara Waters in Melbourne;
  • A picnic in the park is planned at Brookhaven in Queensland, with community stalls and entertainment;
  • A cultural ‘pot luck’ dinner is coming to Ed.Square in Sydney;
  • At Rhodes Quarter in Sydney, a St Patrick’s Day celebration will be open to workers across the precinct;
  • Nationally, there’s plenty of Easter events and community markets planned.

These events complement the initiatives Frasers Property’s Community Development teams facilitate each day, such as cultural celebrations, playgroups, markets, movie nights, meet your neighbour events, welcome picnics and barbecues, walking tours, seniors and parent meet ups, community choirs, gardening workshops, cooking classes and more.

Relationships Australia shares specific findings from the campaign each year with its Very Neighbourly Organisation partners, and Frasers Property will report back its findings in terms of participation, success stories and the like. This data will provide new insights into the way Frasers Property designs and implements its community building programs in the future.

“Research commissioned by Relationships Australia shows us that engagement with the Neighbours Every Day campaign leads to better-connected communities, improved resilience and mental well-being and a sustained reduction in loneliness. We are delighted to welcome Frasers Property Australia as a Very Neighbourly Organisation and excited to work with them to create and share belonging across the country.” says Mr Nick Tebbey, National Executive Officer of Relationships Australia.

Like Frasers Property Australia, Relationships Australia is a strong supporter of Ending Loneliness Together, the national network which draws knowledge from Australian and international universities, and service delivery expertise from community, social services and professional organisations, to address loneliness in Australia.

Emily Wood, Executive General Manager Development, Frasers Property Australia says its recognition as a Very Neighbourly Organisation is a natural extension to the work the company does as part of the Ending Loneliness Together network to promote resilience and social connection in its communities.

“To create belonging in the communities we build requires tangible action, to ensure the social connections we envisage run through the design of the public spaces, through the built form, and through our community building programs. Partnerships like that with Neighbours Every Day commits us to initiatives which will have an important impact on the health and wellbeing of everyone who lives and works in the places we make,” Ms Wood says.

“If the experience of our customers is to drive everything we do, we must respect and nurture the relationships and connections our customers have with each other and their community. Working with Relationships Australia helps us do that.

“As we mark 100 years of operations in Australia, our partnerships with Neighbours Every Day and Ending Loneliness Together will unlock plenty of new insights and opportunities to shape the way we create belonging in the future, so the communities we build continue to be resilient places people can connect and feel safe in,” she says.
