Announcing the successful tenderer for stage 2 of construction: As the stage 1 construction work draws to an end preparations for stage 2 are underway, beginning with the award of the stage 2 contract onsite this morning.
We are pleased to announce that a local Illawarra based contractor Coastwide Civil has been appointed as the successful tender for the stage 2 construction of the boat harbour within The Waterfront, Shell Cove. Coastwide Civil were also the successful tenderers for the stage 1 construction works which are now nearing completion.
Valued at approximately $65 million, stage 2 is the largest of the three construction stages and will involve the excavation of approximately 950,000 cubic metres of soil and rock to form the inner and outer harbour basin, construction of the boat harbour edge comprising a mix of concrete walls and rock revetment, removal and reuse of surcharge mounds and construction of the boat ramp in the outer harbour.
Stage 2 of construction is expected to take approximately three years to complete which will include the completion of the finished boat harbour basin. The final, third stage of construction will then connect the completed boat harbour basin to the ocean.
