Pollinator Patch Bush Care Working Bees

A new initiative is set to transform part of Discovery Park into a thriving habitat for local pollinators.

14 March 2026

Across South East Queensland, pollinator numbers are declining due to habitat loss, removal of food plants and increasing environmental pressures. Without action, these vital species, and the natural environments they support, remain at risk.

To help address this decline, a new Bush Care initiative is set to transform part of Discovery Park into a thriving habitat for local pollinators. The Pollinator Patch project will restore a section of bushland by planting native flowers, shrubs and herbs that provide nectar, pollen and shelter for bees, butterflies, moths and birds. Even modest spaces can make a meaningful environmental impact when planted thoughtfully with native species suited to the local ecosystem.

Join us for the first session of the Brookhaven Bush Care series, where community members will come together to actively care for and enhance our local natural environment.

This hands-on session will focus on planting trees and will be guided by Sameer, who will share his knowledge and lead participants through the process. Together, we’ll contribute to the ongoing health of our bushland and help create a greener future for Brookhaven.

No prior experience is required, just a willingness to get involved and enjoy time outdoors alongside neighbours and friends. Light refreshments will be provided, and participants are encouraged to stay on after the session to connect, share ideas, and learn more about future Bush Care activities.
