There is one type of ceramic ‘Glazed’ tile installed at Ancora Apartments. These tiles are used on bathroom walls, countertops, and floors. Tile grout is the material used to fill the spaces between tiles, giving the installation its finished look.
Whatever cleaning method is chosen, remember the three golden rules:
- Try a small inconspicuous area first.
- Rinse off well with clean water afterward.
- Avoid a high concentration of cleaning products for prolonged periods.
Stain Removal for Skheme Glazed Porcelain Tiles
Skheme Glazed Porcelain tiles are resistant to stains due to their non-porous surface. However, for stubborn stains, follow these guidelines:
- • Routine Cleaning: Regular sweeping or vacuuming to remove dirt and debris prevents surface abrasion. Mop with warm water and a pH-neutral, sulfate-free cleaner.
- • For Stubborn Stains: Appropriate abrasive methods can be used to remove tough stains on polished and profiled glazed tiles.
- • Efflorescence (White Powdery Residue): Sweep or vacuum the residue. Avoid using water as it may reabsorb the salts.
- • Avoid Acidic Cleaners: Acidic products can damage grout and cause hazing on glazed tiles.
- • Test Before Use: Always test any cleaning agent on a small, inconspicuous area first.
Repairing Damaged or Loose Tiles
A damaged or broken tile, or loose or missing grout, should be removed and replaced by a qualified tiler only.

PREMIUM FINISH
How do I care for and maintain natural stone surfaces in my apartment?
Basic Care: Clean natural stones like marble, granite, limestone, and travertine with a soft cloth and fresh warm water. Periodically, use a mild, neutral detergent to remove ingrained residue.
Food Preparation Areas: Use a non-toxic, penetrating sealer on natural stone in food prep areas. Sealing makes the stone more stain-resistant but not stain-proof. Avoid direct contact with hot surfaces to prevent:
- Thermal Shock: Sudden temperature changes can cause cracks.
- Water Marks: Hot items can leave dark stains if moisture seeps in.
- Etching: Acidic liquids can leave dull spots on delicate stones like marble.
Bath & Wet Areas: Minimize soap scum in bathrooms by using a squeegee after each use. Use a non-acidic cleaner or an ammonia solution (½ cup ammonia to one gallon of water) for cleaning. Avoid overuse of ammonia as it may dull the surface.
Spills: Immediately blot spills with a paper towel to prevent spreading. Use coasters under glasses, especially those containing alcohol or citrus. Always use trivets under hot items and placemats for sharp or heavy objects. Avoid sandpaper or abrasive cleaners.
Other Surfaces: Clean with a neutral cleaner or stone soap using a soft cloth. Avoid products containing lemon, vinegar, or other acids. Rinse thoroughly and dry after cleaning, changing rinse water frequently.
Vanity Tops: Vanity tops may need a penetrating sealer. A quality marble wax can minimize water spotting. Clean regularly using a neutral or stone-safe cleaner diluted 1:1 with water.
Sealing: Reseal all natural stone surfaces every 12 months using a stone-specific sealer, available from reputable hardware stores, to maintain protection and appearance.
Do’s and Don’ts:
- Do: Dust mop frequently, use mild detergents, thoroughly rinse after cleaning, and blot spills immediately. Protect surfaces with non-slip mats and trivets.
- Don’t: Use acidic cleaners, abrasive products, or mix bleach with ammonia, as this produces toxic fumes.
Regular care ensures the beauty and longevity of your natural stone surfaces.
DELUXE FINISH
How do I care for and maintain Caesarstone surfaces in my apartment?
Basic Cleaning: Caesarstone surfaces are easy to maintain. Use a soft cloth, warm water, and a mild detergent for everyday cleaning. Unlike natural stone, Caesarstone is non-porous, meaning it does not require sealing and is highly resistant to stains and bacteria.
Stubborn Stains: For tougher stains, use a non-abrasive household cleaner. Let it sit briefly on the stain before wiping clean.
Heat Resistance: Although Caesarstone is heat-resistant, it is not heat-proof. Always use trivets or heat pads under hot cookware, slow cookers, and fry pans to prevent potential damage.
Spills: Blot spills immediately, especially those containing acidic substances like lemon juice or vinegar, as prolonged exposure can damage the surface.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Avoid bleach, oven cleaners, and products containing strong chemicals like trichloroethane or methylene chloride, as these can permanently damage the surface.
Cutting Boards: Use a cutting board when preparing food. While Caesarstone surfaces are scratch-resistant, they are not scratch-proof.
Sealing: Caesarstone surfaces do not require sealing because they are non-porous, unlike natural stone surfaces, which need regular sealing to maintain their protection.
Do’s and Don’ts:
- Do: Clean with mild detergents, use cutting boards, and protect surfaces with trivets.
- Don’t: Use abrasive pads, strong chemicals, or place hot items directly on the surface.
Regular care following these guidelines will ensure that your Caesarstone surfaces stay beautiful for many years.
