Reduce, reuse, recycle – We've all grown up being taught that in school, but what do they actually mean?

At Frasers Property, sustainability is one of our core focuses and more often than not informs our master planning design decisions.

But there’s only so much we can do. At the end of the day, it all comes down to each homeowner and tenant to reduce waste and recycle properly, to help create a sustainable future for Australia. Find out how you can start making a real difference with these simple tips.

1. Reduce.

Try to avoid creating waste in the first place. Think about how long foods will last, and how you’ll dispose of the packaging.

2. Reuse.

Can the item be modified or given new purpose after usage? Rather than adding to the waste stream, consider how you could get crafty with these materials! Or look to charity stores to redistributing your unwanted items to new homes. After all – one man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure.

3. Recycle.

The easiest and most obvious way is to establish a clear system around separating your rubbish as part of your local area’s recycling collection.

4. Recover.

This means converting waste into materials of value. One example is composting your organic waste and using that to improve your soil.
