Lake Walyungup: A Natural Gem Near Baldivis Grove
From the elevated outlooks of Stage 9 at Baldivis Grove, you can catch glimpses of a remarkable natural landmark — Lake Walyungup. As part of the Rockingham Lakes Regional Park, Lake Walyungup is a shallow, seasonal salt lake that has long held cultural, environmental, and geological significance. Its name comes from the Nyungar language, meaning “place where Nyungars talk,” and continues to be of spiritual significance for the local indigenous population in Dream Time story telling as the place where the Sea Waugal laid her eggs. Within the lake are microbial structures known as Thrombolites.
Formed many thousands of years ago, the lake sits within the Quindalup Dune System and plays a key role in the local ecosystem. In wetter months, it becomes a habitat for migratory and local bird species, while in drier seasons, the lakebed transforms into a salt pan, revealing a striking and peaceful landscape and is popular with land sailors.

General Works in the Community
Stage 9 land lots are nearing completion, with only minor works remaining. The contractors will then commence works to the parkland, which forms part of this stage. The aim is to deliver a space for all members of the community; including quiet zones, dedicated junior and senior play areas. This incorporates nature play, a climbing tower, plus so much more. The most significant component, is the connection to the cultural heritage of the area through integrated indigenous artworks.
We are proud to share the draft concept designs with the community.
As construction of land lots at Baldivis Grove are nearing completion, Frasers Property will continue to share updates on the status of the parkland, once major milestones are met.
As always, if you have ideas about how you’d like to build community reach out to our community team today.
