Construction at Ed.Square, Frasers Property Australia’s game changing mixed-use community at Edmondson Park, has reached its busiest point to date and will shift up another gear next month when work starts on the residential first homes.

Frasers Property recently appointed local company Growthbuilt to deliver the first 184 homes at Ed.Square, the new community taking shape adjacent to Edmondson Park train station in south west Sydney.

Warwick Dowler, Development Director, Frasers Property Australia says Ed.Square is a hive of activity at the moment, with around 350 workers on site each day. It’s set to become even busier in coming months as residential construction begins.

“Following an extensive due diligence and tender process, we are certain Growthbuilt has the capacity to deliver on our vision for quality and innovation at Ed.Square. The homes at Ed.Square will include a mix of designs and sizes, each with a sustainable focus and an emphasis on quality, and Growthbuilt is the ideal partner to bring these first homes to life,” Mr Dowler says.

“The start of construction of the first homes is a major milestone for the new community and we’re pleased to have a company with the local expertise and proven track record of Growthbuilt on board. We are looking forward to our vision for the masterplan becoming a reality.

“This is a key milestone for the more than 290 people who have already purchased homes at Ed.Square as well as members of the local community who have been excitedly watching the new community take shape adjacent to the Edmondson Park train station.”

Growthbuilt will deliver a strata housing including 156 townhomes, 14 terrace-style homes and 14 urban lofts with private parking. The townhomes will be set across five blocks, each of which includes a common parking area.

The contract also covers private landscaping, numerous pocket parks and two landscaped ‘mews’ areas with paved shared pedestrian and vehicle zones.

Construction is expected to take 18 months with approximately 200 jobs expected to be created, with many local tradespeople, services and suppliers to benefit from the project.

Growthbuilt is a leader in residential housing, commercial and mixed-use projects and will work with Frasers Property to deliver its vision to create an edgy urban atmosphere in a leafy neighbourhood at Ed.Square.

Growthbuilt managing director Colin Rahim says the company is excited to partner with Frasers Property Australia in the creation of Ed.Square.

“This is an exciting project for Growthbuilt. Frasers Property expects a very high quality of housing with an emphasis on sustainability, and this project demands both. We’re looking forward to getting started,” he says.

Preliminary work will commence in August before geothermal drilling rigs arrive on site in September to begin installing the heating/cooling systems for the homes. Concrete slabs for the homes will also start being poured in October before walls begin going up the following month.

Mr Dowler says work is also advancing well on stage one of Ed.Square Town Centre, thanks in part to the excellent winter weather and low rainfall.

“With manpower reaching up to 350 workers onsite each day, 150,000 sqm of formwork being erected and 24,000 cubic metres of concrete poured to date, the site is a hive of activity,” says Mr Dowler.

Sydney-based company Probuild was appointed late last year to deliver stage one of Ed.Square Town Centre, which will comprise 25,000sqm of retail space to create a landmark shopping, dining and entertainment hub for residents and visitors.

It will include an Eat Street, fresh food market place, Event Cinemas complex, waterplay area and healthcare facilities, as well as approximately 90 specialty shops, a full-line Coles supermarket and Liquorland outlet, and is set to be completed in the second half of 2020, coinciding with the first residents moving in.

Stage two of Ed.Square Town Centre Stage will include up to an additional 15,000sqm, bringing the total retail space to up to 40,000sqm, including an additional 60 shops integrated with a landmark residential tower atop the town centre. The Probuild contract, which is expected to generate more than 600 local jobs, includes the construction of four residential apartment buildings comprising more than 300 homes and approximately 1,500 car spaces, to accommodate the residences and the retail precinct.

World class architectural firms HDR, GroupGSA and HASSELL have collaborated to deliver the new Australian dream at Ed.Square, embracing today’s preference for better public spaces that connect people and creating a mix of apartments, terraces and townhomes to provide greater housing choice.

Ed.Square offers a variety of home styles and floorplans across 992 apartments, and 892 terraces and townhomes, set amongst more than six hectares of open space.

The new community will be serviced by convenient bus and train links to Parramatta and Sydney CBD, with easy access to Sydney’s main roads and Western Sydney Airport close by. It is a 45-minute train journey from Edmondson Park railway station to Central Station.
