Exciting Progress at Edmondson Park’s New High School: Latest Updates and Traffic Improvements
We’re thrilled to share the latest update on the highly anticipated new high school in Edmondson Park, an exciting new amenity by School Infrastructure NSW adjacent to the Ed.Square community.
The earthworks phase has now been completed, and structural construction is well underway. The new school buildings are beginning to take shape, as shown in the latest progress photos — a real sign that the vision for a state-of-the-art public school is coming to life!
As part of the development, significant upgrades to the surrounding roads will help ensure safe and efficient access to the school for students, staff, and the community. Key changes will affect parking and traffic conditions along Buchan Avenue, Faulkner Way, and Horrie Road.
Here’s what’s coming:
- New roundabout at the intersection of Buchan Avenue and Horrie Road — designed to ease traffic congestion and improve vehicle flow.
- Three new pedestrian crossings on Buchan Avenue and Horrie Road to enhance student and community safety.
- Extended bus bays and kiss and ride zones along Buchan Avenue and Horrie Road, making drop-offs and pick-ups smoother and safer.
- Shared pedestrian and bike paths on both the north and south sides of Buchan Avenue — encouraging active travel to school.
- No-stopping restrictions on Buchan Avenue to establish new bus zones, improving safety and accessibility for students and public transport users.
- Concrete islands and pedestrian fencing on Buchan Avenu to prevent dangerous U-turns, safeguarding pedestrians and drivers alike.
- Right-hand turn restrictions into Buchan Avenue from Faulkner Ave, Holliday Avenue, Hemmie Road, Guillemont Road, and McAree Road — to improve overall traffic flow in the area.
We’re also excited to announce the appointment of Mr Gareth Smith as principal of the new Edmondson Park high school. Bringing 18 years of leadership experience, Mr Smith is passionate about fostering a supportive and dynamic learning environment for all students.
