Dear Residents,

ROAD WORKS ON FRANCIS STREET, YARRAVILLE

Further to the notification letter issued in September 2023, changed traffic conditions will continue to the end of March 2024 due to drainage works associated with the widening and upgrade of Francis St, Yarraville.

What works are coming up?

  • To minimise the impact on the community during the Christmas break, the lane closures currently in place along Francis Street will be temporarily removed.
  • Full pedestrian access to McIvor Reserve dog park will be available during the Christmas break. Phase 2 of Francis Street upgrade works will commence following the Christmas break, this includes the installation of drainage pits and drainage crossings along Francis Street.

When are these works happening?

  • Traffic management and lane closures along Francis Street will be removed by Wednesday 20 December 2023.
  • The lane closures and traffic management along Francis Street will be reinstated from Tuesday 9 January 2024.
  • All traffic management removal and set up will be carried out during the day.
  • Phase 2 of Francis Street upgrade works will take place from 9 January 2024 until the 30 March 2024.

What to expect:

  • Some increase in construction noise, activity, and vehicles in the area whilst we remove and reinstate traffic management measures and proceed with Phase 2 construction works.

Residents are reminded that when works recommence on 9 January 2024, kerbside parking will be temporarily prohibited in Francis Street directly within the vicinity of the work areas including between Urwin Street and Gent Street.

Please note, further information regarding future phases of Francis Street Road widening works will be provided as construction progresses. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding while we complete these works.
