MELBOURNE, 13 OCTOBER 2018
The launch of residential sales at Frasers Property Australia’s landmark Burwood Brickworks development got off to a strong start with sales exceeding expectations.
A crowd of more than 1,000 gathered at the site, at 78 Middleborough Rd, Burwood East, for the official Discovery Day residential sales launch, spearheaded by an auction of two of 16 land lots available at the 18 hectare site.
Results from the day included the sale of two 400sq m land lots, which sold for $860,000 each, exceeding the reserve. To date more than 200 apartments and more than 65 townhomes have already sold.
The auction, conducted by real estate expert and Hockingstuart founder Andrew Stuart, capped off a day of celebration during Burwood Brickworks Discovery Day, where potential buyers and local community members caught their first glimpse of how the site will be transformed into a thriving new community.
Plans for the site include approximately 700 detached and semi-detached homes and apartments, the selection of land lots, 2.5 hectares of open space and parklands, community facilities and two large public spaces connected to an urban plaza adjoining a shopping centre complete with a rooftop urban farm.
The $500+ million1 Burwood Brickworks mixed-use community has received a huge amount of public interest since its ambitious masterplan received planning approval from Whitehorse City Council earlier this year.
Warm weather spurred many local residents to come and see what all the fuss is about and enjoy free food trucks, a jumping castle, face painting and more.
Sarah Bloom, General Manager – Residential Victoria, Frasers Property Australia said the launch of residential sales marked a turning point for the community, who had waited patiently for the opportunity.
“There is a genuine feeling of excitement in the community that the time has finally come for people to be able to buy at Burwood Brickworks,” Ms Bloom said.
“The sale today of these two land lots captured some of that excitement and it shows how much people are prepared to pay for the lifestyle we are offering at Burwood Brickworks.”
Ms Bloom said demand for limited appointments with Frasers Property sales staff on the day was extremely high.
“Our sales staff were run off their feet on the day handling enquiries from interested buyers. The sales office is now open seven days a week, so I encourage anyone who missed out on the day to book an appointment.”
Land lots at Burwood Brickworks are expected to range in price from $800,000 to $1.2 million. Apartment prices start at $388,000 for a one bedroom, one bathroom, car space and storage to $733,000 for two-bedroom,two-bathroom, car space and storage. A variety of detached and semi-detached homes are available starting at $809,000 for three-bedrooms, two bathrooms and two car spaces ranging to $1.25 million for four bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and two car spaces. Future releases are expected to include a range of four and five-bedroom family homes.
