Major new Town Centre to open mid-year

  • Four apartment buildings to be delivered this year
  • 700 residents living at Ed.Square by Christmas 2020
  • Creative Town Centre installation will be community photo opportunity

SYDNEY, 23 JANUARY 2020
This year we’ll see some major growth milestones for South West Sydney and there’ll be many more to come over the next decade. One of the first will be the opening of the first stage of Ed.Square Town Centre, the heart of the new Frasers Property Australia community adjacent to Edmondson Park train station.

Set to open mid-year, Ed.Square Town Centre will provide residents with convenient access to a full line Coles supermarket, Liquorland, state-of-the-art Event Cinemas and a range of specialty shops, dining choices and entertainment options.

Named by Urbis1 as the most significant new community development in the South West Growth Corridor due to its integration with the train station and walkability, Ed.Square is a hive of activity now, mirroring the activity in the broader region.

The region will see a series of major infrastructure programs as work towards the opening of Western Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek in 2026 get into full swing. Work on the $644 million civil earthworks project is underway, a competitive process is also underway for the architectural and interior design of the terminal and surrounding precinct and work is also expected to begin on the North South Rail Line from St Mary’s to the new airport.

More than 28,000 new jobs are expected to be created in Sydney’s South West between Liverpool, Campbelltown and Badgerys Creek by 2030. Ed.Square will provide a diverse choice of housing to support this influx.

By Christmas this year, approximately 700 people will be enjoying the convenience of life at Ed.Square, within walking distance to a train station and other services, shops and parks.

The job generation, growth and positive momentum in South West Sydney has been mirrored in the success of Ed.Square which has seen 367 apartments and townhomes sold since its launch in 2018.

In a further endorsement of Ed.Square, more than 40 percent of the homes sold so far have been to people already living in the region and a healthy proportion of the almost 100 retail tenancies in Stage 1 will be operated by local businesspeople and concepts.

During 2020, the scaffolding and formwork will disappear on four apartment buildings as they are completed and new residents of homes in Chelsea Pocket and Hampton Corner will see their brand-new home take shape.

A powerful new art installation, also to be unveiled mid-year, is set to become a high profile and welcoming feature of Ed.Square.

Celebrated international installation artist James Dive of Scoundrel Projects has been commissioned for the project. Based in Chippendale, Sydney, James’ recent installations include the City of Sydney’s new Martin Place Christmas Tree and the Colour Fields installation at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

His installation at Ed.Square is designed to become a beloved landmark and part of the community’s everyday life – a constant that always says hello on your commute, during your errands, during the cold rain, or on your way to dinner.

Entitled ‘Very Good’, the work enlists lighting, a facade that can shimmer, and a clever use of the undercroft.

Mid-year will be major when Ed.Square opens to residents and the broader community with its live entertainment, waterplay area, fresh food market (including the full-line Coles supermarket and Liqourland), Event Cinemas complex, buzzing Eat Street and convenience services offering. Ed.Square Town Centre will be an entertaining, interesting and fun place to be.

The inner-city style Eat Street will be very popular for the broader community. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it will incorporate 25 different alfresco and other dining options across a range of local and national operators creating a great family friendly meeting and entertainment precinct.

In addition to food, dining, entertainment and shopping, Ed.Square will provide a wide range of health, medical and wellbeing services.

Chemistworks, Myhealth Medical Centre, Ed.Square Dental, Back in Focus and Anytime Fitness will contribute to the community’s social infrastructure, and Myhealth Medical Centre will provide on-site access to GPs and a range of medical services to local residents and the broader region.

Frasers Property has also confirmed that a massage and acupuncture specialist, sporting goods retailer, pathology and childcare operator will be among the Stage 1 tenants, offering families real convenience and a range of services promoting healthy, active lifestyles.

“We’re focused on ensuring the residents who live at Ed.Square, as well as visitors from across Western Sydney, can enjoy real choice and convenience in the most comfortable, sustainable environment imaginable,” says Warwick Dowler, Development Director, Frasers Property Australia.

At Ed.Square, Frasers Property has collaborated with world-class architectural firms HDR, GroupGSA and HASSELL to deliver the vision for a 21st century Town Centre, integrated with 1,884 homes in a mix of apartments, terraces and ‘mews’-style townhouses.

Designed as a pedestrian-friendly community, all amenities are within 400 metres of the homes, connecting residents to Ed.Square Town Centre by foot.

The new community will enjoy convenient public transport links. Edmondson Park train station provides easy access to Liverpool, Parramatta and Sydney CBD, while the local bus network and Western Sydney Airport will enhance these connections.

Ed.Square is in one of Australia’s fastest growing areas in Sydney’s South West and is part of the South West Priority Growth Area identified by the NSW Government.
