New community springing to life as buyers get ready to build

  • More than 100 new residents settle their land purchases as the first wave of buyers prepare to build
  • New homes will join parklands and residents’ club currently under construction


The first residents that will call Mambourin home are preparing to build their new homes as the first wave of land settlements is finalised at Frasers Property Australia’s new community in Melbourne’s west.

More than 100 buyers have now settled their land purchase at Mambourin and are swiftly putting plans in place with selected builders to progress their new homes.

It’s an exciting new phase for the community, which is already springing to life with construction work on the expansive district park, wetlands and exclusive residents’ club already underway.

The first settlements for any new development are typically cause for celebration and a good opportunity for residents to meet their new neighbours. But plans for a settlement party have been put on hold until social distancing restrictions ease.

“We have had to rethink how we welcome our first residents due to COVID-19, but we also want to make sure that everyone is excited as we are to reach this important milestone,” Sarah Bloom, General Manager Development Victoria for Frasers Property Australia says.

“These customers have come with us on the journey so far and we can’t wait to see them start to build their homes. It’s the phase when the vision for Mambourin starts to be realised, as the future residents begin to shape their new community.

“To welcome our new residents, each will receive gift packs that include a Google Home device and a picnic blanket, which we hope they will be able to make full use of in the fantastic new open spaces currently under construction.

“We are planning on bringing our first residents together for a special welcome event when circumstances allow, hopefully later this year. This will be a great chance for new residents to make those important early connections with other people in the community.

“We have all been reminded in recent months just how important community is and we are working on creating something particularly special at Mambourin. I am thrilled to see it all begin.” 

Mambourin is a unique $440 million mixed-use community offering city-style convenience to a range of amenities. With a lifestyle focus, it features an exclusive residents’ club, expansive wetlands and adventure playground, plans for a private P-12 school, a new train station, a major town centre, library, kindergarten, a performing arts centre and a commercial business district.

Mambourin has been popular with buyers of all types, especially upsizers and first home buyers. 

Among the first families that will call Mambourin home are Taneal and Joshua Walker, who are planning on building their “forever home”.

Taneal says Mambourin appealed to the couple, who have two young daughters, for its convenience and access to the residents’ club.

“We both work in the CBD so having easy access to Melbourne is important, which we will have by train. But we were also looking for somewhere that would give us access to parks, schools and community,” Taneal says.

“The idea of the five-minute community at Mambourin was really appealing. I love the idea of convenience, of being able to hop off the train after work, grab what I need at the shop on the way home and be home within minutes.”

The Walker family are building a single-storey, four-bedroom house with Henley Homes. 

“We have a big family, so being able to entertain and allowing the kids to be able to sleep undisturbed was really important for me,” Taneal says. “The house has an alfresco area and stackable doors so we can really open up the living space. It just ticked every box.”

Taneal says the exclusive residents’ club, Club Mambourin, was also a big drawcard for the couple. 

“Access to a gym and a pool is really important to us, for our own health and wellbeing as well as for the kids. I also really like that we will have access to a function room, where we could book in a kids’ party, and it won’t be as busy a space as a public area. I really like that the space will be for residents only, a space for our community to connect, which you really can’t get anywhere else.”

Janine Casey will join the Walker family as being among the first residents to start building at Mambourin. For Janine, her new home has been 25 years in the making.

“I love the fact that I can see it all starting from scratch,” Janine says. “It will be a new beginning for us and the end result will be a brand new home.”

Janine is building a single-storey, three-bedroom home with Homebuyers Centre where she will live with her 17-year-old daughter, Safana. It will feature two bathrooms, a single garage and a private courtyard space out the back.

“I have already picked all the tiles and the colours so everything is ready to get started. I can’t wait. I have already been out and taken selfies at my block. It’s incredibly exciting.”

It is hoped the first residents will start building this month with the possibility some will be able to move into their new homes by Christmas.

Mambourin offers land lots in various sizes to suit buyers of all types with a range of budgets. Frasers Property is currently offering a Five for Five campaign, where buyers who raise a 5 per cent deposit to purchase land at Mambourin – or any other eligible development – will have Frasers Property match the remaining 5 per cent to help customers meet the minimum 10 per cent deposit requirement.
