Families snap up units in billion-dollar development with pool, cinema and retail

Home seekers wanting to buy a lifestyle as well as property are finding exactly that in Sydney’s south west.

With a development value worth a staggering $1.5 billion, Ed. Square in Edmondson Park is delivering a mix of housing types across a sprawling masterplan, right by the suburb’s train station, which will incorporate a retail precinct with cafes, restaurants and even a cinema once complete.

Frasers Property Australia initially planned to deliver three apartment towers above the retail portion.

According to sales and marketing director Dino Carulli, fast sales and hot demand have lead to the release of a fourth building — The Emerson.

“This building will be our tallest of all four; there are 91 apartments over 13 storeys in a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts,” Mr Carulli told the Daily Telegraph.

“They only recently hit the market and we’ve had 17 sales — we have already sold out of the three-bedroom options, he said.

The developer, which has started construction on the buildings along Soldiers Parade, did not anticipate such strong interest from families.

“It has been a real surprise for all of us to see that level of take up … these apartments are opposite our central park and 150m from the train line, perhaps that is why it has been so well-received,” Mr Carulli said.

The green space on residents’ doorstep is set to have a 4000 sqm footprint and features for everyone, including play spaces for littlies.

Many apartments will come with balconies overlooking this, while others will have district views or sights of Western Sydney Parklands.

Internal features include mirrored splashbacks, stone benchtops and quality appliances in the kitchen.

Some units come with a “flexi room”, a small extra room which Mr Carulli said had been popular with those wanting to work from home or couples looking to start a family.

Residents will also get parking and have access to a private resort-style swimming pool. One bedroom starts at $455,000 and two-bedders are from $610,000.
