NSW’s first 6 Star green star community


Fairwater is the first community in NSW to achieve a 6 Star Green Star Community rating from the Green Building Council of Australia, representing World Leadership.

What does this mean?

The Green Star rating system is a comprehensive, national, voluntary environmental rating system that evaluates the environmental design and construction of buildings and communities. Green Star measures how well a community is designed and developed compared to other Australian communities. The rating system was born out of the sustainability principles developed for Sydney Olympic Park for the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

A 6 Star rating is the highest achievement possible, representing World Leadership. In 2016 Fairwater was also awarded the UDIA Award for Excellence in Environmental Technology and Sustainability, as well as Best Residential Community.

We’re committed to making Fairwater one of the healthiest communities in Australia. By choosing to live at Fairwater, a 6 Star rated community, you are investing in your health (and your family’s health). How? We offer free daily exercise classed available to all of our residents in the park. Dedicated cycleways, walking tracks and pramways. Outdoor fitness stations are planned for the future parks in development. In addition, Fairwater includes over 6 hectares of parks and more than 3.5 hectares of ponds, wetlands and waterways so residents can enjoy an outdoor, active lifestyle. During the construction process, over 90% of sitewide waste is recycled. Rainwater tanks are used for all grey water requirements. And we’ve invested $8.6 million into rehabilitating the natural riparian corridor.

You’re also saving money. Your home costs less to run. In fact, with the Geothermal units installed in every Fairwater home, a typical 3 bedroom home can save $500 per year on their energy bill compared to a standard air conditioning system.  Geothermal heating and cooling systems use 60% less energy than a standard air conditioning system. You can be less dependent on your car. Due to Fairwater’s location less than 1km to Blacktown CBD and Transport Hub, you’re close to a major transport interchange as well as living close to an area where there are over 100,000 local jobs.

Every home is fully equipped with NBN, and with many of our home designs incorporating a home office, you can work from home easily, avoiding the daily commute.

You’ll love to come home to Fairwater. Our Green Star rating means we also care about the community and making sure you feel connected to your neighbours. Our on site dedicated Community Development Officer is there to welcome you to Fairwater and organise community events to get you as involved as you like in developing the community you want. We have a Community Committee set up and encourage residents to be actively involved in planning Community events. A free community garden is available to all residents, located just across the road in the Blacktown Showground.
