Postcards deliver homegrown inspiration for Round Mountain vision
Young creatives have captured the people, places and everyday moments that make New Beith special through an art competition, with hand-drawn postcard designs offering inspiration for Frasers Property Australia’s newest masterplanned community, Round Mountain.
Judges awarded three young artists $500 each for their winning postcard designs, depicting their favourite things about living in New Beith. Each winner also nominated a local charity to receive a $1,500 donation on their behalf, with $3,000 going to Greenbank Cricket Club and $1,500 to Women’s Legal Service QLD.
The competition closed with a celebration at the Sales Centre, bringing together the winners and charity partners, and the schools and community groups who also participated, including Flagstone State School, Greenbank State School, Active Kids and C&K Greenbank Kindy.
Frasers Property Australia Queensland General Manager, Scott Ullman, said the postcard designs offered valuable insights into the aspects of New Beith most valued by locals, with key themes helping to shape the vision for the 246-ha residential community, which will deliver 2,100 homes at the base of Round Mountain.
“What resonated most strongly across the postcard designs was the real sense of connection to family, nature and local landmarks that bring people together,” Mr Ullman said.
“These are the themes we want to nurture as Round Mountain continues to take shape, so it’s incredibly valuable to see the community reflect them in such a creative way.
“9-year-old Charles Broadhurst-Hill’s detailed Kookaburra illustration caught the attention of our judges, capturing the richness of New Beith’s native wildlife and peaceful country landscape.
“We were impressed by 6-year-old James Undery’s postcard, where he depicted himself and a family member enjoying an ice-cream and hot chocolate at ONO Café and Flowers, reflecting the importance of local gathering spots and everyday moments of connection.
“Another design by 11-year-old Matilda Smith was a standout, portraying her two dogs on a nature walk and showcasing the value of peaceful outdoor spaces.
“We’re proud to see these themes showcased, and they offer a useful guide not just in terms of the physical places we create, but also the kind of lifestyle and sense of belonging we want to support as we bring the Round Mountain masterplan to life.”
Mr Ullman said the charity component of the competition, as well as collaboration with local indigenous artist Robbie Antcliff, provided an opportunity to give back to local organisations and strengthen community ties.
“Partnering with Robbie, a proud Mununjali woman and founder of Georgie and Willow, has been a highlight of the competition, and her beautiful artworks drawn from Country, culture and community, inspired participants to reflect on and celebrate what makes New Beith and its surroundings so special.”
“This, alongside the donations to charity, is a simple but purposeful way to turn a creative project into something meaningful that gives back to the wider community,” he said.
Greenbank Cricket Club President, Shane Harris, said the organisation caters to up to 200 players and would use the funds to boost its juniors program and encourage girls to take up the sport.
“We’re so grateful for this funding that will allow us to buy more equipment for our juniors and offer free registration for any girls who want to join the club to keep the female program growing in the area,” Mr Harris said.
“It all goes back into the community in one way or another, by bringing people together through sport and offering a place to make connections.” Mr Harris said.
“We have worked with Frasers Property before when they hosted our beginner’s cricket on their oval at Brookhaven for a season, and they also donated a shed for our players at North Maclean. It’s great to have their continued support.”
Located in New Beith, Round Mountain is located just three kilometres from Flagstone and close to established retail, education, health, transport and recreational amenities.
The Round Mountain Sales and Display Centre is now open daily from 10am-4pm, and winning artworks alongside Robbie Antcliff’s designs are on display for the community to view.
