Mambourin Green case study: Ashnita and Shalendra’s Story

Renting gave Ashnita and Shalendra the perfect opportunity to test out Frasers Property Australia’s Mambourin community in Melbourne’s west after the couple moved to Australia from Fiji in 2022.

It didn’t take long for the two school teachers to realise they had found their perfect location, quickly snapping up a land lot on which to build their first home, featuring four bedrooms, and which they completed and moved into in 2025.

So impressed have they been with the quality and amenity of Mambourin, they bought the very first lot at Mambourin’s nearby sister community, Mambourin Green, a location for their first investment property.

“When we were renting, we really liked Mambourin. It was very close to our work. Most of the essential services were very close, such as Wyndham Vale train station, Manor Lakes shopping centre, Wyndham Vale Square shopping centre and so on,” Ashnita says. “However, the highlight was with the new shopping centre at Mambourin, Mambourin Marketplace. We have firsthand access to a fresh market, Indian grocery, multicultural food chains, servo, fast food restaurants and butcher and we’re there every second day.”

The fact that Mambourin also has a school, and two childcare centres, and the exclusive residents centre, Club Mambourin, were all huge factors in the couple’s decision to buy.

“I use the gym nearly every day,” Shalendra says. “We use the event centre as well. The swimming pools come in really handy during summer, and we use Mambourin’s parks every weekend.”

Knowing that the residents’ club at Mambourin Green will be even bigger than Mambourin’s sealed the deal for Ashnita and Shalendra when they were making their investment property decision.

The fact that Frasers Property delivered on their promises at Mambourin gave the couple great comfort.

“We were always super confident in Frasers – their way of doing things is impressive and attractive,” Ashnita says.

Frasers Property establishes community development teams in each of the neighbourhoods it creates to ensure residents have opportunities to make connections in their new homes, and Ashnita and Shalendra make a point of attending all the events they can.

“We always end up making some great friends and build that community partnership. We just love the atmosphere — we meet, greet, share our cultural identify and enjoy multicultural events. We always enjoy the food trucks and beverages as well as getting to know our neighbours,” Shalendra says. “We have lots of families and relatives living near Mambourin but what excites us more about Mambourin is the friendly culture we have with most residents.”

After moving to Australia with their fur baby Diamond, a rottweiler mix, Ashnita and Shalendra welcomed a second baby, Aari, now two-years old.

“We now call Melbourne our city and Australia our country,” Ashnita says. “Our families from Fiji also enjoy this community. My mum, who spends most of the time with us loves walking to the parks. Other families visit us every year, enjoying every bit of what Frasers have built around over the years.”
