We’re excited to share that two long-awaited new pedestrian bridges have now been lifted into place, marking a major step in finally connecting the historic village with The Waterfront, Shell Cove. These new links are expected to open within the next six weeks and will offer residents an easy and enjoyable way to walk, ride or scoot between the village, marina, cafés, schools and parks.

The first bridge now joins Mary Street to Nautica Crescent, and the second crosses the wetlands channel between Whimbrel Terrace and Sophia Street. Many residents have been using informal paths in these areas for years, so these bridges will provide a safer, more direct route between the two neighbourhoods.

These new connections will make it easier for residents to enjoy everything on both sides of the harbour — from local dining and shopping to arts, recreation and community activities — all while helping to reduce parking pressure in busy periods.

Additional foreshore and open space improvements around the harbour are also progressing, contributing to the next exciting phase of the precinct’s evolution.
