Work to start on The Waterfront Town Centre restaurant and promenade precinct.
Frasers Property Australia has appointed Duffy Kennedy Constructions to deliver The Waterfront restaurant and promenade precinct at Shell Cove. Work is set to begin in late August and is expected to be complete by April 2021.
Duffy Kennedy Constructions has 25 years’ experience in construction across the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. The company has been engaged as the design and construction contractor to deliver almost 1,000 square metres of ground floor retail space at The Waterfront Town Centre, as well as a private car park with lift access, a public open-air car park and 45 apartments over three levels.
The harbourfront restaurant and promenade precinct will be one of the main attractions at The Waterfront, Shell Cove, which is a Frasers Property and Shellharbour City Council joint venture. Located just steps from the future Shellharbour Marina and boat harbour now under construction, the vibrant new precinct is set to become the region’s premier lifestyle and tourism destination.
Diners will be able to take full advantage of breathtaking views of the marina, ocean and coastline as they enjoy a delicious meal. Simone Dyer, Development Director – Shell Cove, Frasers Property Australia says the appointment of Duffy Kennedy Constructions follows an extensive tender process and paves the way for one of the most important elements of The Waterfront Town Centre to begin.
“The construction commencement of The Waterfront Town Centre restaurant and promenade precinct is a major milestone for the Shell Cove community, which is shaping up as the south coast’s ultimate lifestyle destination,” says Ms Dyer.
“The precinct is one of the centrepieces of the entire community and we’re pleased to have a company with the expertise and proven track record of Duffy Kennedy Constructions on board to bring our vision for The Waterfront, Shell Cove to life.”
Duffy Kennedy Constructions Managing Director Gavin Duffy says the company is excited to partner with Frasers Property in the creation of The Waterfront Aqua apartments, and harbourfront restaurant and promenade precinct.
“This is a spectacular project in a beautiful natural setting and we’re looking forward to getting started,” he says.
Construction is expected to take 21 months and create in excess of 200 jobs, with many local tradespeople, services and suppliers to benefit from the project.
Ms Dyer says The Waterfront, Shell Cove is a hive of activity, with work progressing well on the Shellharbour Marina, boat harbour and surrounding boardwalk. Other key amenities being progressed include the hotel, the waterfront tavern, the first stage of the harbour foreshore, the town square and children’s water play area, and the library and community centre.
“The harbourside restaurants will provide an amazing experience for diners day and night, who will be able to enjoy a stroll along the boardwalk after their meal,” she says. The Waterfront, Shell Cove is a masterplanned community in a natural coastal setting surrounded by beaches, parks and wetlands but close to schools, transport and major centres.
