Strict gathering rules - Every Wednesday, 9am-11am & every Saturday, 2pm-4pm
The Community Garden team are excited that spring is here at last and are keen to get back to regular working bees once public health restrictions are eased. Here's a quick update from the team:
"It's been a difficult few months in the Community Garden with lockdown affecting our ability to gather at our normal weekly working bees. The recent strong winds also played havoc with our newly constructed polyhouse blowing our several sheets of polycarbonate. Fortunately the old reliable gaffa tape came to the rescue and we were able to make temporary repairs until we can repair it properly.
The polyhouse has been quite a boon to our seedling production and it looks like this spring we will be self-sufficient in the production of most vegetable seedlings. This also means we should have lots of excess seedlings to distribute to our local community. The great news is that with the arrival of the warmer spring weather we've seen some easing of restrictions and are now able to restart our maintenance schedule (under strict gathering rules of course).
Once we're permitted to, we hope to see lots of new members join us at either our Wednesday morning or Saturday afternoon working bees. if you are interested please contact us via our Facebook page at Shell Cove Community Garden or shellcovegarden.gmail.com
Happy gardening from the Shellharbour Community Garden Team"
