We are proud to announce that Tree Walk Park at Berwick Waters has been awarded the 2026 AILA VIC Landscape Architecture Award for Play Spaces, recognising its outstanding contribution to community recreation, inclusive play and innovative landscape design.
Presented by the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA), these prestigious awards celebrate projects that help shape the future of Australia's landscapes, cities and communities. This recognition reflects the vision, collaboration and dedication of everyone involved in bringing Tree Walk Park to life, including landscape architects Tract and the Berwick Waters team from Frasers Property Australia.
An Award-Winning Community Destination
Since opening, Tree Walk Park has become one of Berwick Waters' most loved destinations, offering a unique blend of adventure, wellbeing and connection to nature.
At the heart of the park is its striking elevated canopy walk, which weaves through mature trees and provides sweeping views across the surrounding wetlands. Designed to immerse visitors in the natural environment, the experience celebrates the unique landscape that defines life at Berwick Waters.
Tree Walk Park is also home to Australia's largest inclusive slide and is a Livvi's Place, part of the national network of inclusive play spaces created by the Touched by Olivia Foundation. These thoughtfully designed spaces encourage children of all abilities, families and the wider community to play, learn and live together, creating opportunities for meaningful connection and shared experiences.
The park offers a diverse range of recreational facilities for people of all ages, including:
- A nature-based inclusive playground
- Two fenced dog parks
- BBQ facilities and sheltered seating areas
- Public amenities
- A half basketball and quarter netball court
- Open grassed spaces for informal play and recreation
- Outdoor fitness equipment
- Extensive native planting and landscape enhancements
Importantly, the park was designed to preserve existing mature trees while introducing new semi-mature native trees, shrubs and additional planting to support biodiversity and enhance the natural character of the community.
Celebrating Excellence in Landscape Architecture
The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects Awards recognise excellence across a broad range of projects, from public parks and streetscapes through to civic spaces, ecological restoration and strategic planning initiatives.
Projects are assessed by independent juries across Australia and judged on criteria including innovation, design quality, environmental outcomes and community benefit. As a Victorian award recipient, Tree Walk Park has been recognised as a leading example of contemporary play space design and placemaking.
