Santa Claus is Coming to Macquarie Park

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and there’s plenty of ways to celebrate the festive season! To help you get into the holiday spirit, we’ve found the top places around Midtown for Christmas fun and events.

 

Carols on the Common

When: Sunday, 18 December 2022 | 05:00 PM - 09:30 PM

Where: North Ryde Common, Wicks Road, North Ryde, 2113

There’s no better way to celebrate the festive season than being surrounded by music and cheer. Featuring all your favourite classic carols with the best performers from all over Sydney, Carols on the Common is the perfect way to kick off Christmas season! This cheerful outdoor family event will also have plenty of food stalls and amusement rides to keep you entertained. From the giant slide to dodgem cars, there’s lots of fun to be had at Carols on the Common. To close out the night, your whole family will be treated to an awe-inspiring magical firework display. You don’t want to miss this event!

Money raised on the night will go towards the Rotary Flood Relief Project.

Carols at Kings Park

Where: Kings Park, 22 Salter Crescent, Denistone East, 2112

Just 3km drive from Midtown MacPark, Kings Park is hosting the ultimate Christmas carols event. With a petting zoo, jumping castles, face painting and more, this event will be full of festive cheer!

Carols in the Park

When: Tuesday, 20 December 2022 | 06:30 PM - 09:00 PM

Where: Pindari Park, 14 Pindari Street, North Ryde, 2113

Grab a bite to eat and get cosy at Pindari Park for some Christmas carols! These carols have been held on the Tuesday night before Christmas ever year since 1975. This is the perfect holiday tradition that you and your family can continue to attend for years to come. The first 300 guests to arrive will receive a free sausage sandwich, cold drink, coffee and light-up candle.

This super fun event is located a short seven-minute drive away from Midtown so if you’re looking for a way to get into the festive spirit, look no further!

Santa’s Magical Secret Garden

When: 19 November – 24 December 2022 | 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

Where: Macquarie Centre, Santa's Secret Garden, Level 1, near Kmart

Get ready for a magical journey to meet Santa! You can now capture your magical family photo with Santa inside his interactive Secret Garden at Macquarie Centre. This is Australia’s first living and breathing display, made with over 260 native plants - it has even been awarded as landscape design of the Year for Commercial Design! Cross the board walk, explore the glow worm cave, pass by iconic Australian landscapes and MORE at Santa's Secret Garden. Enjoy a Christmas Movie at Event Cinemas, Macquarie Centre!

If Christmas carols and family events aren’t your thing, don’t stress because Macquarie Centre Event Cinemas is currently showing a Christmas action-comedy film made just for adults! ‘Violent Night’ follows the story of an elite team of mercenaries who break into a family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone hostage inside. However, after a surprise combatant: Santa Claus shows up, they soon come to learn why this Nick is no saint.

Christmas Lights

Neighbourhood Christmas light displays are undoubtedly a favourite Christmas activity for the whole family. You definitely don’t want to miss the festive scenes on display at Chauvel Street, Schumack Street and Cutler Parade in North Ryde - all within 5km radius of Midtown MacPark. Ice cream vans typically frequent these streets so if you’re lucky you might be able to score a late-night ice cream treat!
