Friday 28 August 2020 is Wear It Purple Day. At Frasers Property Australia, we believe in the business value of diversity and we want the people delivering our properties to be just as diverse as the people who’ll live, work and shop in the places we build. Today, and every other day we show acceptance for LGBTIQA+ people because we believe everyone has the right to be themselves, at work and in our communities. Frasers Pride Australia is our network that strives to foster inclusion and diversity for LGBTIQA+ people in our workplace, and part of our broader Diversity & Inclusion program. Frasers Property Australia is committed to having a workplace culture where everyone feels respected and safe to be themselves.
As proud members of Pride in Diversity, we will continue to drive initiatives that contribute to a workplace culture where inclusion and diversity is at the heart. We are committed to having a workplace culture where everyone feels respected and safe to be themselves and to celebrate and improve the work experience of employees who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender or Intersex.
28 August 2020 is Wear It Purple Day, a global movement that strives to foster supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environments for rainbow young people. This year, Wear It Purple celebrates 10 years, with the apt theme ‘we are the change’.
Wear It Purple was founded in 2010 in response to global stories of real teenagers, real heartache and their very real responses. In 2010, several rainbow young people took their own lives following bullying and harassment resulting from the lack of acceptance of their sexuality or gender identity. ‘We are the change’ emphasises the importance of encouragement, empowerment and emphasis on making effective change for LGBTIQA+ folks and all minority groups. When we wear purple, we are sending a message to young rainbow people that we support them. We are actively making a safe space where young people can feel empowered and are encouraged to be proud of who they are.
