27 August is Wear it Purple Day – a day that encourages workplaces, schools and communities to create supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive spaces for LGBTIQ+ youth.
Wear it Purple Day's 2021 theme “Start the Conversation… Keep it Going” is focused on the important and necessary conversations we have in our daily life, that centre around sexual orientation and gender identity – on 365 days of the year.
Bradley Price, General Counsel and member of Frasers Pride Australia says: “The things we say and do as leaders, as friends or as part of a family impact young minds. Wear it Purple Day provides us an opportunity to remind ourselves of how positive conversations around sexual orientation and gender identity can change how a LGBTQ+ young person may feel about themselves today and tomorrow. My message today for our rainbow youth: go be amazing at who you are – you have our support.”
At Frasers Property Australia, we’re committed to raising awareness and celebrating diversity and inclusion not only on one day – but year-round. Earlier this year, we submitted our first Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) report, a definitive national benchmark on LGBTIQ+ workplace inclusion and comprises the largest and only national employee survey designed to gauge the overall impact of inclusion initiatives on organisational culture as well as identifying and non-identifying employees. Participation in the AWEI report will provide us with valuable feedback and help us identify future opportunities for LGBTQ inclusion. We’re also proud to have entered our third year of the Frasers Pride Australia Committee, our network to support our LGBTI community. It is part of our broader Diversity & Inclusion program – we are committed to having a workplace culture where everyone feels respected and safe to be themselves, and have championed ongoing training across the organisation.
