Frasers Property draws on its green wall credentials

SYDNEY, 6 SEPTEMBER 2018

Residents of Discovery Point’s newest residential tower will be bathed in architectural splendour from the moment they step inside the foyer of the ICON building.

A breathable green wall and a designer lighting display create a distinctive and welcoming entry to the soaring 22-storey building, the largest and final residential tower at Discovery Point, Frasers Property Australia’s masterplanned mixed-use community at Wolli Creek.

Designed by award-winning architectural firm GroupGSA, the distinctive triangular-shaped landmark tower, with its elegant, streamlined appearance and sleek façade, is a fitting finale to the Discovery Point story.

ICON, a centrepiece in the Discovery Point community, offers panoramic views of the Cooks River and wetlands, neighbouring parklands, Botany Bay and the city skyline, and takes cues from one of Frasers Property’s most celebrated developments, Central Park in Chippendale and its famed green wall.

Director of GroupGSA and architect Lisa-Maree Carrigan says the green wall created and maintained by Junglefy, and the foyer lighting by Christopher Boots, enhance ICON’s design to mark the threshold of a residential plaza that blurs the lines between the public and private domain at Discovery Point.

“This four-storey green wall is interrupted by a storey-and-a-half of glass, which looks into the pool area, so you have these beautiful reflections onto the plaza, and that activates the plaza,” Ms Carrigan says.

She says ICON’s glass louvered façades on its western and southern sides provide privacy, amenity and originality to the structure, giving some homes all-weather entertaining spaces in the form of winter gardens.

“Urban design and the built form have a big influence on people’s lives and the positive feedback we’re getting is that the architecture brings a sense of joy and pride to people living there,” Ms Carrigan says.

The building has been thoughtfully designed to embrace the natural light, aspect and view of each residence. Coupled with contemporary open plan interiors and high-quality finishes, it is no surprise that just 10 apartments remain available.

These include five one-bedroom apartments priced from $720,000 to $750,000; three two-bedroom, two-bathroom designs priced between $940,000 and $970,000 and one two-bedroom, two-bathroom plus study home priced at $1,030,000. There is also one east facing three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment located on level 19 with panoramic views to the Sydney skyline priced at $1,335,000.

Dino Carulli, Sales and Marketing Director - NSW Residential, Frasers Property Australia, says eligible first homebuyers can take advantage of Frasers Property’s 5 per cent deposit offer on all remaining apartments.

“Discovery Point is now an established and thriving community just 10kms from the CBD and 3kms to the airport, with a wide variety of people including families, couples, downsizers and singles calling it home,” Mr Carulli says.

“The community enjoys the convenience of its own train station, from which it’s just a 10 minute trip to the CBD. There are restaurants and services at residents’ doorsteps, and six hectares of parks and outdoor areas including riverfront parklands and promenade to enjoy.”

ICON residents will have access to a variety of recreational facilities, including an expansive outdoor barbecue area on its landscaped podium level, a media room, gym and swimming pool.

With its own water utility to provide residents with refined water, and a water-recycling system for use on gardens, parks and sporting fields, Discovery Point has won numerous awards for ecologically sustainable development. Drought tolerant local flora has been planted across the community.

The final apartments in ICON are due to be completed in October, marking the end of a 14-year construction program at Discovery Point that has delivered over 1,900 apartments across 14 buildings.
