Full steam ahead for October opening

  • Range of local businesses will soon open their doors
  • All your needs will be met at The Waterfront, Shell Cove
  • Grand opening October

For Shell Cove locals, the countdown is on: an ice-creamery, health food shop, pizza and pasta restaurant, café, artisan bakery, dentist and barber are among the retailers soon to open in the new town centre.

Stage one of the town centre, part of the award-winning Shell Cove community by Shellharbour City Council and Frasers Property Australia, is now fully leased and work is progressing full steam ahead for an October opening.

Servicing a catchment of more than 100,000 people, the new Shell Cove Town Centre will be anchored by a full-line 3,800sqm Woolworths supermarket and BWS liquor outlet.

“Joining Woolworths is a great mix of local businesses keen to make their mark in the new community, creating a vibrant town centre atmosphere with a distinct local flavour,” says Tim Moore, GeneralManager – Retail Leasing, Frasers Property Australia.

Bliss Ice-cream and Gelato will offer a cooling treat to residents and visitors alike come October. Proprietors Mark O’Keefe and Mary Novak were attracted to the waterfront location offered at Shell Cove and will relocate their existing business from nearby Shellharbour where they have operated Shellharbour Ice-Creamery at Shellharbour Village for five years.

Mary says the new shop is “a hop, skip and a jump to the marina”.

“We will have some seating out the front so people can sit and enjoy their ice-cream and watch the activity on the foreshore and the boat harbour. There is going to be a children’s adventure playground nearby as well, which will be a bonus for us,” she says.

Mary says two new freezers are on order to store the 38 flavours of ice-cream and gelato they will stock. There will also be a coffee bar.

Elsewhere in the new town centre, those wanting a treat a little kinder on the waistline can drop into Naturally Tasty to pick up a juice or a healthy meal, while artisan bakery Breadrocks will have all your baked goods.

Residents will be able to keep their teeth in tip-top condition with a visit to Shell Cove Dental, while the team at barber Man Cave will keep you looking sharp.

The Waterfront, Shell Cove has been designed so residents can walk to shops, the harbour, schools, beaches, public transport and other amenities. The new community is in a natural coastal setting surrounded by beaches, parks and wetlands but close to schools, transport and major centres.

This first stage of the town centre features solar panels that will generate power equivalent to that required to operate 55 homes, as well as a rainwater recycling system for use in gardens and toilets which, coupled with efficient taps and fittings, is estimated to save more than 900,000L of water annually.

The Shell Cove Sales and Information Centre will also soon relocate to the new town centre. It is open seven days from 11am to 5pm. For more information call 13 38 38 or visit
