Woolworths, BWS and a range of local shops recently commenced trading and now it’s time to declare Shell Cove Town Centre officially open with a community celebration this Thursday, kicking off a host of activities and entertainment culminating in an action-packed family fun day on Saturday.
Don’t miss the chance to see Shellharbour Mayor Marianna Saliba cut the ribbon to mark the grand opening of the new town centre, a fully-catered event with morning tea and coffee for the adults and face painting for the kids, backed by the tunes of the Hot Potato Band.
The grand opening begins at 10.30am and the public is invited to attend.
Then, on Thursday and Friday nights, visitors to the new Shell Cove Town Centre will enjoy live music and roaming entertainment from 5-7pm, before a big day for the community on Saturday.
The family fun day on Saturday October 27 runs from 10am-2pm and features two jumping castles, Circus Dropzone, face painting, stilt walkers and roaming performers, live music and public art.
There will be a range of prizes to be won, special giveaways and fantastic offers from the town centre’s new shops.
The community celebration continues on Sunday with live music, lively entertainment and a gymnastics performance.
The new town centre forms the vibrant natural heart of Shell Cove, $600 million1 a joint venture between Shellharbour City Council and Frasers Property Australia.
“We encourage the entire community to come down to The Waterfront and join in this momentous occasion. This is your community’s fantastic new asset and what better way to get to know the centre than with a grand celebration involving the whole community,” Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba says.
“It’s been a long, collaborative and ultimately rewarding journey to get to this point and Thursday’s grand opening will be remembered as one of the most important dates in the new community’s story.”
Peri Macdonald, Executive General Manager - Retail, Frasers Property Australia says the new Shell Cove Town Centre will be a convenient place for the community to grab the groceries, enjoy a wonderful meal and to socialise.
“The new town centre this week officially becomes the social heart of Shell Cove, a place for the local community and visitors from further afield to enjoy each others’ company in a convenient location unmatched in terms of natural beauty,” Mr Macdonald says.
The Waterfront, Shell Cove has been designed so residents can walk to shops, the harbour, schools, beaches, public transport and other amenities. The new community is in a natural coastal setting surrounded by beaches, parks and wetlands but close to schools, transport and major centres.
This first stage of the town centre features solar panels that will generate power equivalent to that required to operate 55 homes, as well as a rainwater recycling system for use in gardens and toilets which, coupled with efficient taps and fittings, is estimated to save more than 900,000L of water annually.
The Shell Cove Sales and Information Centre is located in the Shell Cove Town Centre. It is open seven days from 11am to 5pm. For more information call 13 38 38 or visit www.thewaterfrontshellcove.com.au.
1$600 million is the estimated value on completion of all residential and retails property at Shell Cove.
