Educational tours to be held at Burwood Brickworks Shopping Centre
Burwood Brickworks shopping centre redefines sustainability in retail, created to give back more than it takes. Open House Melbourne, the organisation which advocates for better-designed cities through encouraging civic participation, is inviting people to find out how.
On Sunday 31 July, in collaboration with Frasers Property Australia and NH Architecture, Open House Melbourne will be conducting educational tours of this paradigm-shifting building, shining a light on new architectural possibilities and key learnings for the regenerative buildings movement.
Tours will be led by architects from NH and Frasers Property Australia’s team. Tours start at 10am and 11am and are capped at 20 people each. There’s no need to book as the tours will be run on a first-in, first-served basis. Find out more: openhousemelbourne.org/event/burwood-brickworks/
Opened in 2019, Burwood Brickworks is the only retail development globally to achieve Living Building Challenge® Petal Certification and therefore be recognised as the world’s most sustainable shopping centre.
It is already among Victoria’s – and Australia’s – most awarded buildings. Welcoming to everyone from every angle, elevated through biophilic design and unrivalled in comfort, the centre feels different to any other built form environment.
The Open House Melbourne tour is an open invitation for people to experience it themselves.
Part of the Open House Worldwide Network, which covers 40 cities globally, Open House Melbourne is an independent organisation that fosters public appreciation for architecture and public engagement in conversations about the future of our cities. By empowering people with knowledge around the impact of good design decisions in our built environment, it aims to ensure Melbourne remains a liveable and vibrant place now and in the future.
