It’s a date! Mambourin Marketplace to open on 18 September

- Everyone invited to grand opening celebrations
- Four fun-filled days of free events, prizes and special offers
- The new heart of Frasers Property Australia’s Mambourin community in Melbourne’s West
Residents of Melbourne’s West can mark their calendars. Frasers Property Australia’s Mambourin Marketplace, the region’s new $60 million shopping centre, will open its doors on Thursday, 18 September.
Everyone is welcome to join the celebration as the new neighbourhood centre is unveiled. Enjoy live entertainment, interactive games, exclusive opening deals, and your chance to win amazing prizes, all part of a day packed with family fun and community spirit.
It all begins at 10am with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony with special guest: Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Mia Shaw.
Immediately following the grand opening, four fun-filled days of free family events kick off, starting with Bollywood dancers in the morning. In the afternoon, there’ll be See Make Play kids workshops, bubble performers and a live DJ set to keep the mood upbeat as the sun goes down.
Then, on Friday 19 September, locals can sign off the work and school week among roving dinosaur performers with live musicians providing the vibes.
On Saturday, the celebration continues with face painting, sunflower performers and roving band members. Test your skills and try your luck with exciting challenges and prize wheels running throughout the event, and if you spend $20 at any of the new speciality retailers, you’ll get a bonus $20 Coles voucher. Redemptions are limited to one claim per customer, per day. There are 1,000 vouchers in total and will be available until September 20. Full terms and conditions available on the website.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone to their new shopping centre and we encourage the whole community to take full advantage of all the free activities and special deals on offer,” says Centre Manager Snigdha Sharma.
“Just as there are a great range of shops and dining choices catering to everyone at Mambourin Marketplace, there will be something for everyone at our grand opening celebration too.
“The opening is a major milestone for our growing Mambourin community and an exciting addition to the shopping and dining landscape for people in Melbourne’s West. The mix of local retailers, quality and convenient services and amazing culinary choices will make a visit to Mambourin Marketplace a unique experience in the region,” she says.
Also being unveiled on the day is a public artwork by Wadawurrung artist Chloe Chatterton, Woven Through Country – an expansive piece which will contribute a distinctive visual identity to the new neighbourhood shopping centre.
Like her other pieces, at its heart, is a story of connection. Of “unity and coming together,” she says.
The work features mountains, symbolic of the nearby You Yangs, as well as rivers, coastal landscapes and native grasslands. Textured layers distinguish the natural forms to show the diversity of the local area which, Chloe says, reflect the cultural diversity of the people who call the community home.
There are clear symbols of gathering and the passing down of knowledge, to highlight the importance of people coming together and learning with each other. Watching over all is Bunjil, spirit creator, who reminds us of our need to care for Country.
Mambourin Marketplace is set to become the social, convenience and dining heart of Frasers Property’s new Mambourin community in Melbourne’s West.
