The Grove’s first-ever Wetlands Stride fun run proved to be a huge success, with around 200 residents coming together to walk, run and celebrate the stunning new wetlands and open spaces recently completed in the Riverside neighbourhood.
Held on a perfect Autumn Sunday, the event showcased the beauty of The Grove’s natural landscape while offering residents the opportunity to enjoy culture, community and connection.
The day began with a moving Welcome to Country and Yidiki performance, followed by a Smoking Ceremony led by Uncle Mark, through which participants passed before setting off on the 4km circuit around the wetlands.
After the run/walk, residents gathered at the Dianella Community Centre Open Day, enjoying a wide range of engaging activities and entertainment. From coffee and herbal drinks, to delicious food provided by local group Pulse with Purpose, plus games and beanbags under the sun, the relaxed festival-style atmosphere was a highlight for many.
A range of Wyndham City Council services were also on site, including the Street Surfer Bus, Maternal Child Health Van, Pop-Up Library, and the Waste and Litter Education team, who brought along the ever-popular waste truck to promote sustainable living.
Frasers Property extends its thanks to Wyndham City Council, the Dianella Community Centre, and all the local community groups and individuals who contributed to making the day such a memorable one.
