Brand-new community space to open at Ed.Square

Fully equipped Community Centre will open its doors exclusively to residents this June

17 May 2022

  • Exclusive Community Centre opens with a range of inclusive, modern facilities
  • Diverse range of community events planned to bring neighbours together
  • 1,500 residents already call Ed.Square home

Ed.Square residents will have a dedicated space that’s all theirs, to hold local events, cater to local book clubs, host parents’ groups, celebrate ‘Meet Your Neighbours’ nights and other resident led activities that bring the community closer together.

Frasers Property Australia will open a brand new, fully equipped 200 sqm Community Centre to activate community growth and neighbourhood interaction, ensuring Ed.Square is not just a world-leader in environmental sustainability but social sustainability too.

The Ed.Square Community Centre has been designed as a space to bring neighbours together, and further enhancing the unique lifestyle on offer at south-west Sydney’s premier residential address.

The $1.5 billion Ed.Square community by Frasers Property is one of the most significant new communities to be created in Sydney’s major growth corridor. The opening of the Ed.Square Community Centre marks a major milestone, with 1,500 residents already living in their brand-new homes and more residents coming soon to the masterplanned community.

Claire Palmer, Community Development Manager, Frasers Property Australia says the launch of the new Community Centre is great news for new residents.

“Having a dedicated private community space will enable residents to meet their neighbours and make new friendships in a relaxed environment and is just one of the many lifestyle benefits that sets Ed.Square apart from any other neighbourhood in the area,” says Ms Palmer.

“We look forward to helping facilitate these introductions between new neighbours and create a sense of belonging by delivering a space that is accessible, inclusive, and safe for our community.”

The Community Centre will comprise a large central meeting space with board games and event services; a fully equipped commercial kitchen with cooktop and other modern facilities; and an office space where people can meet the Community Development Manager and register for community events and activities.

Creating such a valuable community meeting space took on new importance during the pandemic.

“With all of the heath restrictions such as social distancing, there emerged a need for a bespoke space that could accommodate the growing community of Ed.Square without having to travel far from home,” says Ms Palmer.

“We identified a real need for facilities with wheelchair accessibility such as a fully equipped kitchen, community meeting space and bookings office, to provide the infrastructure residents require to be able to come together and connect. This space is now the community’s own.”

A public art mural planned for the Community Centre will feature artworks created by residents, celebrating the diverse local community. Smeg has generously supplied all appliances to equip the centre’s new kitchen.

Paul Enright, National Commercial Manager, Smeg Australia says Smeg is delighted to contribute to the growing Ed.Square community.

“We are delighted to support our long-term partner by providing kitchen appliances for the soon to be launched Community Centre.

“The new centre will serve as a hub, uniting residents to foster community spirit while providing educational, wellness and other programs for adults and children alike,” says Mr Enright.

Several events have already been scheduled throughout the year for all age groups to encourage community connections, with more to be announced.

“We will host regular events such as book clubs, parents’ nights, meet your neighbour nights, kids’ workshops, and resilience nights where the SES, fire brigade and police talk about building a resilient community,” Ms Palmer explains.

“People can access the Community Centre and initiate their own community building events by booking the space right throughout the year.”

At Ed.Square, Frasers Property collaborated with world-class architectural firms HDR, GroupGSA and HASSELL to deliver the vision for a 21st century town centre, integrated with 1,884 new homes in a mix of apartments, terraces and townhomes.

Ed.Square is serviced by convenient bus and train links to Parramatta and Sydney CBD, with easy access to Sydney’s main roads and Western Sydney Airport. It is a 45-minute train journey from Edmondson Park railway station to Central Station.

More than six hectares of open green space bring the character of the existing bushland and regional parklands surrounding the community into Ed.Square Town Centre, with cross-community links joining the regional parklands to the east and west of Ed.Square. The masterplanned community has achieved a 6 Star Green Star Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.

The Ed.Square Sales Centre and Display Village is open daily from 11am to 3pm. To register your interest or for more information, call Frasers Property on 13 38 38 or visit www.EdSquare.com.au.
