National Energy Bill Relief for households and small businesses
NSW
The Australian Government has announced that all households and small businesses will receive up to $150 to help with the cost of their electricity bills in the 2025–26 financial year.
Households
All households in NSW will receive a Bill Relief payment of up to $150.
Because your household is part of an embedded network, you will need to apply for the Bill Relief payment via NSW state revenue office. Applications for the 2025-26 financial year will open in August 2025
Small businesses
Small businesses in NSW are eligible for a Bill Relief payment of up to $150 if they:
- have an active Australian Business Number (ABN)
- are named on the electricity bill or account
- are on a separately metered business tariff
- have an annual electricity consumption below 100 MWh.
Applications for the 2025-26 financial year will open in August 2025.

Victoria
The Commonwealth Government has announced a $1.8 billion extension of the Energy Bill Relief Fund.
Australian households and eligible small businesses with electricity bills may receive up to $150 in energy bill rebates from 1 July 2025 to the end of 2025.
Households
Households in embedded networks such as a caravan park, residential community, retirement village or apartment building can apply for the payment via Victorian Energy Compare website: https://en-billrelief2.energy.vic.gov.au/. Embedded network households will receive a one-off payment of $150.
To be eligible, households must:
- Hold an active electricity account with an energy retailer for their place of residence
- Use their electricity account for domestic use only. Commercial properties are not eligible to receive the household bill relief
Small businesses
Small businesses in embedded networks, such as shopping centres and apartment buildings, can also apply for the payment via Victorian Energy Compare website: https://en-billrelief2.energy.vic.gov.au/. Eligible small businesses will receive a one-off payment of $150.
To be eligible, small businesses in embedded networks must:
- Have an active ABN as listed on the Australian Business Register
- Have a separately metered business tariff
- Have an annual consumption below 40 MWh

QLD
Queensland households will get $150 off their electricity bills from the Australian Government under the Energy Bill Relief Fund extension.
Eligible residential customers will automatically receive a rebate of $75 per quarter, applied directly to their electricity bills from 1 July 2025 through to the end of the year. There's no need to apply, the rebate will appear as a credit in August, applied to your July 2025 billing period.
